"Very social communal housing. You will 100% make friends living here and the location is a sweet spot."

"I lived in a studio apartment in Morgens for four semesters. It wasn't anything special, but that being said, I only moved so I would be closer to my classes (I'm in CECH and Teachers-Dyer is on the opposite side of campus) and so I could have a washing machine in my apartment (in USquare) instead of having to use a communal laundry room. I also lived in the same room layout in Scioto in summer 2020 and there was virtually no difference, so I would recommend reading the reviews for both buildings even if only one of them is an option to you. Pros: - Floor-to-ceiling windows for some of the best natural lighting in any place I've ever lived, not just dorms. I lived on the 10th floor, so even though my room faced east (off campus), I rarely felt as though I was exposed. Cons: - Only two elevators for 13 floors and up to 456 residents. It's usually not too bad except around times that people are leaving for or getting home from class. If you can't use stairs, try to get a room on a higher floor (I've seen the elevator fill up before it gets to the lower floors) and always leave "waiting for the elevator" buffer time so you aren't late to class."

"I lived in the same studio layout in Morgens from summer 2018 through summer 2019 and there was virtually no difference, so I would recommend reading the reviews for both buildings even if only one of them is an option to you. Pros: - Floor-to-ceiling windows for some of the best natural lighting in any place I've ever lived, not just dorms. However... Cons: - I lived on the 4th floor and haven't been personally stalked (that I know of), but more than once I've had to call campus safety on people who were in the parking garage on the east side of the building taking pictures through open windows. - Only two elevators for 13 floors and up to 456 residents. It's usually not too bad except around times that people are leaving for or getting home from class. If you can't use stairs, try to get a room on a higher floor (I've seen the elevator fill up before it gets to the lower floors) and always leave "waiting for the elevator" buffer time so you aren't late to class. - The elevator says every floor number out loud as it passes, even if it's not stopping. It's annoying. (This is the one difference between Morgens and Scioto!)"

"This place is really nice. There were issues last fall/this spring with fire alarms and break-ins, but the issues appear to have been fixed. Fire alarms haven’t gone off in the time I’ve been back and there haven’t been any reports of break-ins lately. They’ve started locking all of the exterior doors to help limit the people in the building. They used to be unlocked during the day. Maintenance is quick to fix issues you’re having (COVID slowed things down a bit, but they’re mostly back to normal). The kitchens are nice, the bathrooms are nice, the bedrooms are nice. The studios are a little on the small side, but the other apartments are a lot more spacious. The amenities are also great, there’s a pool, a gym, and business center with free printing onsite, so you don’t have to go to the rec or to campus computer labs to print if you don’t want to. The rec probably has more/better equipment though. The mailroom wasn’t accepting packages for a few months (COVID), so they ended up in the mailroom with risk of things being stolen, but they’re back to accepting packages and there’s no longer risk of your stuff being stolen."

"A typical college-style modern apartment. Everything present but of mediocre quality—from carpets, to sofas to beds to kitchen. Many awful smells in the lobby, usually of weed or food. Friday nights, people may get drunk or intoxicated very much and get violent—visibly clear when they break the communal lights and lamps, and scratch off or draw on walls. Or atleast that happened during my year. There are RAs. Most of them only exist when they have to do necessary room inspection or solve filed disputes. Communal washers and dryers. Private bathrooms—one shared by two roommates. Not many chances to make friends. Overall, 3.5/5."

"I enjoyed staying at Turner, our main choice was Schneider but we made due with what we had. The private bathroom was very nice and the common area was fun. My only complaints are that it’s a little far away from the majority of campus, and how anti-social the place is."

Marian Spencer Hall University of Cincinnati

Rated 4.3 / 5 stars by 1 University of Cincinnati student

"Marian Spencer has junior suite style rooms. There are two rooms attached via washroom. Two students live in each room. It is right in front of sigma sigma commons and is a 5 to 10 mins walk from kroger and Target. There are student lounges available on each floor and a huge student hang out area available on ground floor."

"Pros: - Suite-style rooms. - Very quiet. - Central campus location. It's ~75 yards from the front door to CenterCourt. Cons: - Not at all social - I met my neighbors on move-in day because my suitemate knew them, and I met the RA, but besides that I didn't meet anyone else who lived there unless I happened to run into another resident on campus. - No desk staff. Anything larger than a letter had to be picked up at the desk at Dabney. - Small windows. - Small common area. - No kitchen/ette, just a microwave and a mini-fridge. This may not be a con if you have a dining pass, especially considering CRC's proximity to CenterCourt which is the late-night and weekend dining hall, there aren't even communal stoves/ovens."

"I enjoyed having my own bedroom. You share the bathroom, living room, and kitchenette with 3 other roommates"

"USquare is the best campus housing I've lived in so far. It's not owned by UC. Pros: - Natural light - I lived in a corner room with a balcony, but other rooms I visited were also well-lit. - Shared living area and bathrooms were fairly spacious. - Maintenance was quick to respond to and fix any problems. - Washer and dryer in each apartment. - Elevators required a building key fob after certain hours. - Mail room was locked and had security cameras. - Lounge area with a kitchenette, TVs, and some game tables. - Gym with ellipticals, treadmills, and weights. - Location - the crosswalk to Marketpointe is right out the front door. Cons: - Under the jurisdiction of CPD, not UCPD, so you can get in a lot more trouble if the cops get called, but people still smoked weed and weren't subtle about it. - Weed aside, the halls often smelled bad. Once, it reeked of poop all the way from the far end of the building to the elevators. (Thankfully I couldn't smell it inside my apartment.) - Small bedrooms. If they hadn't had two closets, I would think that they were originally intended for one person. - Fridge and kitchen storage were barely enough, even though 1/4 of us had a campus dining pass. - Unlike UC-owned dorms, the hot water wasn't endless. - Packages were left on the floor in the mail room instead of behind a desk. - Being on Calhoun St, it's noisy at all hours. Lots of ambulances, motorcycles, pointless honking, etc."
