"Advantages are it’s right next to the Ike and has 2 bus stops that are steps away. Rooms are decent size. Biggest drawback is no A/C."

"Mid century building so good natural light in the rooms. Hallways could be loud. Bathrooms standard. All of it was pretty dated but not in a way that made the experience bad. "

Snyder Hall University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign

    Rated 3.7 / 5 stars by 3 UIUC students

"Synder my third choice dorm, ended up working well. I had a corner dorm, so the room layout was wider but a little shorter, and ended up having more usable space than normal. Being the closest to the ARC was easily the best perk. Bathrooms were pretty gross sometimes. IKE > PAR/FAR"

"Allen is a bit outdated campares to other dorms but for the price, size, and amenities of the dorm I wasn’t complaining. I lived in a quad and it was VERY spacious. Not sure if this is the case for every quad , but the bathrooms and water fountain were in front of my dorm so that was a plus :) They also offered classes in house I took about 5 classes (psych, Art, Eng, photography, and violin) I lived here in 2019 when the dinning hall was still open so it was convenient to go to class and then go downstairs to eat. (Food was like 8/10 on a good day and 4/10 on a bad one). Pro tip: If you’re vegan or vegetarian, you can go to through the tunnels and go to “fields of green” at LAR which is a vegetarian and vegan 🌱 dinning hall. There’s also some restaurants around the area and a small shopping center behind the dorms so that’s another food option. The laundry room is also across from the dinning hall, so it was convenient to do a load while dinning. I think the laundry room was pretty spacious there were like 10 washers and 12 dryers?? (Kinda forgot), a big sink, iron with ironing board, and a folding table. One thing I really liked is that Allen is right next to the CRCE so I didn't have to travel far to go to the gym! There’s also a bus stop in front of the dorms but it was usually full because it would stop at FAR/PAR before it got to Allen. Distance wise from the main quad its kinda far :/ like a 15 min walk? But I didn’t mind walking since the bus was ALWAYS full. Downside of the dorms is that there’s no AC BUT I had a portable AC unit and connected it to the window. The A/C kept the dorm pretty cold, so not having installed a/c wasn’t a problem. Another thing I didn’t like was that the drains would get clogged because people wouldn’t clean their shower after they were done using it :/ so it was common for 2-3 showers to be out of service because they would flood. P.S: I think quads at Allen are the biggest dorm options on campus. Definitely tour a quad at Allen you’ll be surprised by how big they actually and I think?? they’re also the cheapest living options uiuc has… not too sure since I haven’t lived in the dorms since 2020 :/"

"honestly, I had a lot better experience as I thought I would have. I was really lucky in terms of blindly choosing the hall and room number, but it ended up being a really positive experience! My room (on the 3rd floor) overlooked the bus stop and was also right by the stairs. It was incredibly easy to go up and down the floors, stalk the busses to see which ones were there, and I received a lot of natural light (the windows were pretty large!) only downside was the size, but the size is pretty standard in every dorm hall— besides Wassaja and Nugent. I also loved how PAR had access to many major busses (13, 12, 21, 22). So easy to get fast transportation to and from Green St. another pro is having easy access to FAR, LAR, Allen, ISR dining halls. i wouldnt choose a different dorm hall again if I had the chance to redo it."

Nugent Hall University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign

    Rated 4.5 / 5 stars by 1 UIUC student

"Nugent is one of the nicer and newer dorms and my overall experience was very good. Bathrooms are clean and spacious, and most importantly the L shaped rooms are double the size of standard rooms. I had space for a big futon in the middle of the room. Location is kind of far, but everything is walking distance. There are also a lot of rooms for you to study in and hang out with friends. Nugent is honestly a luxurious dorm. "

"My dorm was pretty decent. I had the last time slot so this dorm was the last one left with a/c. It was pretty quiet. I met only 2 people on my floor (keep in mind this was during peak COVID, like fall 2020) Communal bathroom was the only con. My room had 3 windows and a heater in between the beds. Overall, not too bad."

Hendrick House University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign

    Rated 4.6 / 5 stars by 5 UIUC students

"the rooms are nice and spacious. There are enough storage spaces to put a lot of stuff. The only negative of the room (on the west side) is that the temperature control dials are very very sensitive and do seem to keep the temperature constant. I had to adjust the dials 2-3 times a day to keep a constant temperature in the room. Apart from the living space, the food services were good only if you are a non-vegetarian. As someone who is a vegetarian the only regular food options were cheese pizza and salad. Only 2-3 days out of the week was good vegetarian food served which was different than the regular food options. "

Wassaja Hall University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign

    Rated 4.9 / 5 stars by 3 UIUC students

"Wassaja was a really nice building to live in. The room was a decent size for a dorm, and the high ceilings made it feel more spacious. Because it's a newer building, it felt very clean and nice. I really liked the wood floors. The individual-use bathrooms were really nice, especially while living there during the height of the pandemic. There were four bathrooms to our pod of six rooms, so I usually used the one closest to my dorm but there was always another one free if someone else was using that one. It wasn't the most social dorm though, so I didn't really know any of my neighbors very well."

"Ideal location right next to the quad. Met so many great friends there. I had the best RA during my time there and he ensured the community on our floor always had something to do. I have had so many great conversations in the cafeteria while studying"
