Best SJSU Dorms

Here are the 4 best dorms at San Jose State University. This ranking was put together based off of what students rated SJSU dorms on the RateMyDorm SJSU Page.

    Rated 2.7 / 5 stars by 6 SJSU students

"Joe West Hall is a generally average dorm hall. Rooms are not large, bathrooms are decent, and there is no air conditioning. While there are elevators, they often break down and are not a reliable mode of transportation during peak class times. Take the stairs instead, trust me! One of the best things about Joe West is that the Dining Commons and mailroom are attached to the building. There are laundry machines on the ground floor, but you have to walk outside the building to access them and there aren’t enough for the whole building, so you’ll often be waiting a while to get a machine. Each floor has a common lounge or study area, and the themed communities definitely have a sense of community. Joe West is the dorm hall to live in if you want to feel a sense of community and togetherness, but it is not nearly as nice as CV2 or CVC. The kitchen in Joe West is disgusting, I would not use it personally."

Campus Village B (CVB) San Jose State University

    Rated 3.5 / 5 stars by 11 SJSU students

"Pros 🙂 - My dorm faces the campus so I get sunlight and a nice view 🌆 - Stove, oven, microwave, and fridge are available ⏲️ - Large parking area 🅿️ Cons ☹️ - Small kitchen 🍳; makes it impossible for 2+ people to be in the kitchen at the same time - Laundry machines (washer & dryer) often don’t work and you have to go all the way down to first floor to do laundry 🧺 - The chairs provided in the dorm are so uncomfortable 🪑 - All three elevators are always packed during rush hours 🛗 - The windows in the rooms are hard to open 🪟"

    CVC

    Rated 4 / 5 stars by 2 SJSU students

"CVC is known for the shared suites. Each floor has a different amenities/hangout room (table tennis, kitchen, study room, etc). Each suite has 4 double bedrooms with 2 full bathrooms. Sometimes one of the doubles are turned into a triple so each suite has 8-9 people. Pros: - pretty clean (depending on your suitemates really) - forced to live with suitemates so easier to meet people - private bathroom shared between 4-5 people Cons: - no ethernet (although not sure if any building still has ethernet) - forced to live with suitemates so can get loud at times - your suite is responsible for cleaning your own bathrooms"

"Besttttt dorms on sjsu campus. Everyone is super welcoming the first week and the building is newer than all the other dorms. I highly recommend living here. There is only one kitchen on the first floor but each floor has a lounge and a study lounge."
