Stuyvesant Park

1. Room: I was in a triple flex room and in a suite with another double room. Considering the fact that we had a triple, it was pretty spacious with decent lighting. Amenities included a small dresser, bed, and a work table for each roommate. The suites come with a small kitchen, microwave and fridge that I shared with 4 other roommates.
2. Building: It's a pretty old dorm, especially compared to Kerrey. Amenities in the basement included a small gym, laundry room, work rooms, and a community room. While it is an old building, it's a dorm most freshmans opt for so it was fairly easy to make friends in the building.
3. Bathroom: All Stuy suites include a bathroom. Compared to other buildings where you have to share the bathroom with the whole floor, I only had to share with 4 other people.
4. Location: Not too far from campus. As mentioned, since it is a freshman dorm a lot of the times you walk to campus/dorm with other freshmans which definitely helped me feel safe when I first moved in 2016. - 2 years ago1 student reviewers said they lived in Stuyvesant Park during their freshman year

Loeb Hall
based on 2 reviews
Loeb is a great dorm, overall. Expensive? Sure. But it's the perfect balance of what you need from a dorm experience, especially compared to every other dorm at The New School. For one, it's the only dorm with ovens, which provides a surprising amount of food freedom. Second, it's the perfect distance from the University Center and other buildings for classes and school resources. You feel like you live in NYC when you want to, but your community isn't too far. Third, there's an actual community here that "newer" dorms like Kerrey lack. I knew my neighbors and people on all floors, and visiting was easy and welcome. It's not a traditional college dorm environment with doors open, but people are certainly friendly and ready to hang out and meet people if you're friendly enough to them. Last, there's a great basement, study room, and backyard for working space away from school. It provides a much better platform for making and being productive away from the desk in your room. And sure, the rooms aren't huge, but they provide what you need in this transitional phase.
My only real problem was that I ended up having mice once. Don't leave sweets or food on the floor, as it will bring them to your place. I was on the 12th floor, and I couldn't believe they'd be determined enough to climb that high.
Overall, it was a really pleasant experience, and I would not trade it for anything (I met my best friends here). I would recommend Loeb above all the other options to anyone coming in. - 3 weeks ago1 student reviewers said they lived in Loeb Hall during their freshman year

301 Residence Hall
based on 1 review
The dorms are new, and because of that the rooms and amenities are extremely clean. All internal appliances work great, such as hot water, kitchen appliances, heat, etc. Each dorm consists of a suite of either 4, 5, or 6 people, and have a shared bathroom (2 bathrooms in room of 6). Each room has its own control from heat and AC. The bathroom consists of a standing shower, toilet, sink, and storage mirror. The kitchen consists of a microwave, full sized fridge, and a stove. The rooms are not too spacious, but not necessarily small for NYC. Each floor has a lounge that is accessible to anyone in the building. The bottom two levels consist of a cafe, laundry room (free), gym, bike storage, art studio, mailroom, and private practice rooms. The security is overall very nice and helpful, but a few are just generally rude. The maintenance staff is efficient and responds to work orders fairly quickly. The dorm, since being so new, has no plans in place for when anything goes wrong, and expect things to go wrong. But other than the occasional issues this dorm is a comfortable space and definitely a more luxurious dorm. - 2 years ago
