Oak Hall

In the honors college, really great location. The doubles are kind of small, but there's a really nice common room on every floor with a flat-screen TV. The people that live there are hit or miss. I met some great people but on hot days the common room smelt like body odor (a bunch of comp-sci guys that didn't understand personal hygiene). Great place for freshman year. - 4 years ago

If you like to party then live here, if you are going to be studying on Friday nights definitely do not. It’s very loud all of the time, as a cs major I do not recommend. Single dorm was amazing and wicked spacious. Bathrooms were ok and we’re cleaned daily, but don’t go in them on a Saturday morning because people destroy them after partying. - 4 years ago

Gorman Hall

Gorman hall is a great option for freshman! It is super close to Franklin Dining, the frats, and downtown Amherst. It is also only 12-15 mins away from the library. The building itself is pretty new, the washer and dryer is horrific though, but the bathrooms are big and have great water pressure. To be honest, because it is an engineering RAP there are not that many girls, so the girls bathroom is always pretty chill. Room size is 50/50, me and my roommate got a pretty small room and our friends got rooms that were probably almost double the size, but it okay. Pretty solid, bottom of the hill, could not ask for more! - 5 months ago

Crabtree Hall

The room itself is pretty old and the hot water pipes in the ceiling make the room a little overheated in the winter months. Common spaces aren't the best but they are there. There is a small kitchen with a microwave, fridge, and stove.
Northeast is generally pretty quiet but it's not asocial—if you want to make friends in the dorm it's definitely possible. The location is extremely convenient if you have classes in any of the STEM buildings. - 2 years ago4 student reviewers said they lived in Crabtree Hall during their freshman year

Leach Hall

Not the greatest building in the world but not the worst on campus either. Rooms are really cavernous; my room had this gross little fluorescent light in it as its only non-natural light source, so that was unpleasant. Bathrooms are kinda yucky but basically doable. Building is overall dilapidated, crusty, and yucky. However, the building nonetheless has arguably one of the best on-campus locations, with easy access to the LGRT complex, Worcester, and the Campus Center building. If you're willing to accept that UMass housing is garbage overall, then I would def consider this building. - 4 years ago
