Lived here my freshman year, really great to be among honors students. One upside and downside was that it was suite style and co-ed, so it was great to share the bathroom with only 3 people and be able to talk to guys and girls. It's close enough to turlington by bike or bus, and a walk if you feel active. Amenities are minimal, but good enough. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the classic movie college dorm feel that broward, rawlings, and the murphree area have. People don't congregate in the common area as much because theres no real need to with your own bathrooms, and honors kids are generally more prone to staying in and studying. I loved living here overall though.

Bathroom gets cleaned by staff once a week and you only have to share it with 3 other people, but there is close to no social atmosphere in the lounge and no foot traffic. Most people just stay in the rooms. Hume is in the farthest corner of campus away from classes so it is a very far walk.

Don't live in a dorm without a meal plan - very annoying. Bathrooms don't have good ventilation, room and windows are kind of small. My sink water stank all year. A bit luck of the draw but my dorm floor was anti-social bc a bunch of gamers wanted to dorm together. Also don't live in a dorm if you like quiet, I lived right next to the common room. Hume is also far from most things and buses are usually full. UF amazingly has some pretty s**t dorms compared to other Unis.

I was fine with sharing a bathroom with 3 other girls--a lot more favorable than the communal bathrooms in other dorms. I personally liked the co-ed floors and I'd say it was pretty social. Almost everyone was in the honors college, so you already had things in common on Day 1. I lived in Hume West 4th floor and honestly living on the top floor was the best decision (there are elevators so going up and down wasn't an issue). It's a little far from a lot of classes, but the 118 bus takes you straight to the Hub in 5 minutes, and Reitz is a 5 minute walk. If I had to redo freshman year, I would definitely live here again.

While the room is updated, the space is very small and impossible to move furniture around to make it your own. Unlike other dorms, the lounge is always empty and if you are looking to socialize it is very difficult to meet new people in the dorm. Location is absurdly far away from main classes and the rooms are ridiculously over-priced for what you actually receive. While you split one restroom between four people I would argue this is worse than a communal bathroom in a more traditional dorm because custodial cleaning is less frequent by comparison and it gets real ugly real fast.

If you aren't in the cockpit (1st floor Hume East, the basement floor with all guys), you're pretty set in the social scene and having relatively private rooms. I wasn't so lucky haha

Hume Hall is a really great place to live if you can get in. It’s right next to the largest student parking garage on campus so it’s super convenient for that. It’s also near the Reitz Union. The biggest problem with Hume is it’s a little far from the rest of campus, but a quick bus ride solves that problem. The rooms are great with private bathrooms. These dorms go to Honors students first so the floors tend to be quiet and focused on school which is another plus in my opinion.

Hume will always be near and dear to my heart. This is where i lived my first year of college. It is so ideal having your own sink in your room! It’s a double connected by a bathroom to another double and I don’t remember ever fighting for the bathroom. The only annoyance is you have to go outside to do laundry, especially if it’s raining. If you’re taking physics or are always in the reitz, this is a good location, otherwise, it’s a little set back. It’s only 1.1mi to SW Rec, so you could run there as a warmup! Also, short cut: cut thru jume parking lot, graham hall, and behind gator d to get to stadium rd fast! Like .25mi rather than going all the way around on gale lemerand.
