Cale and Irani Residential College Reviews

University of Southern California

Reviews Summary

Cale and Irani Residential College is a widely admired building known for its spacious rooms and excellent location. Most students appreciate living in the tranquil environment, highlighting how quiet the building is, which makes it an ideal place for studying and resting. Either a 6-person/3-bed or a 4-person loft option is available. The 6-person option has ample room with significant storage, while the 4-person loft is cozier and more affordable, albeit with less storage. There are study lounges on the fourth and fifth floors that are very popular for doing work, although it gets crowded towards the end of the night. The building also offers two laundry rooms per floor, providing adequate space and machines for everyone's needs. However, some students have mentioned that these areas could benefit from better maintenance. Regarding the social environment, some say that Cale can be rather reserved, acknowledging that one might find it challenging to form new friendships inside the dorm. Yet, many cherish the privacy it offers and the lack of overbearing RA involvement. The green walls in the rooms divided opinions, some not being fond of the color scheme. Despite some minor drawbacks, such as occasional cleanliness issues and some students' concerns about RA responsiveness, the vast majority find Cale a pleasant and comfortable place to live. Most notably, the village's proximity to everything and particularly the Village gym is often highlighted as a significant advantage. It's undoubtedly a place where you can enjoy the quiet and focus on personal studies.

I lived in a 6 person/3 bed here freshman year and a 4 person loft sophomore year. The 6 person (3 pics attached) is very nice, tons of room and storage. The loft (1 pic) isn’t great, it’s tiny and has very little storage space (but at least it’s cheap). Freshman year the dorm was relatively social and I was friends with probably around half my floor, sophomore year it has not been social and I haven’t made any new friends in the building. Cale is a pretty nice building, but all village dorms are fairly similar. Personally I wouldn’t recommend living here freshman year because it’s harder to make friends than a traditional dorm, but if that’s okay with you go for it. The loft is a little rough but it was worth it to save money for me

The 6 person was sooooo slay. So much storage. It got really messy though, so make sure you’re living with clean people. It’s so big that it’s hard to clean so prioritize that.

I love the faculty and how quiet it is. Everyone is private and in their own rooms, which I personally like.

I was lucky enough to live here a part of my junior year with my friend who was an RA. Any sophomore/freshman dorm in the village is super nice. I would say specifically for Cale, the green walls I did not really like I wish USC just painted all the walls white because I do not vibe with the different colors.

Very big and spacious, also really quiet which is really nice sometimes. There are lounges on the fourth and fifth floors for studying or doing work. However, it may be hard to get one towards the end of the night because everyone likes doing work there. Two laundry rooms on each floor too, so there's a ton of machines for everyone to use and it's really clean as well.

Cale is really nice and the rooms are pretty big. The living room is really nice and there' a ton of space. Location is really good because it's literally right next to the Village gym. I was really sad that I only got to live here for half of the year.

All of the village dorms are essentially the same. Overall very clean and nice. The best thing I liked about Cale was their study lounges and the proximity to everything in the village. Cale is fairly quiet for the most part. I lived in a 2bed/1bath here and I'd say I enjoyed living here.

The building is dead, so if you're into social stuff this is not the place go to Mcmurrow or Cowlings. For some reason, all of the study rooms here stink, but not in other buildings??? The laundry is a mess they don't clean it. Overall, any place in the village is nice this one however, has its flaws.

One of best buildings imo cuz it on the newer side and not having communal bathrooms is great. it is pretty socially dead ngl which means its a nice to study and nap but ur not gon meet a lot of new ppl just by living here. ra arent involved in ur life at all so ig u dont have to worry abt them being on ur case all the time but u dont rlly get a lot of support either tbh. but yeah overall super chill dorm in the village (which is def nice but the village dining hall sucks)
