The University of Maryland provides a variety of housing options to its students with 9,601 beds spread across 39 residence halls. Students can choose from traditional rooms, semi-suites, suites, and apartments. Traditional-style halls offer double rooms with communal bathrooms on each floor, and a large multi-purpose room, kitchen, and laundry on the ground level. Semi-suite style halls have two double rooms connected by a semi-private bathroom and include study lounges, a large multi-purpose room, and a 24-hour service desk. Apartment/suite-style halls have 3-5 bedrooms with a common bathroom shared only by roommates, fully equipped kitchens, and furnished living room/dining room areas.
