The best freshman dorms at UMD are Johnson-Whittle and Pyon-Chen. These are the newest dorms on campus so they have the best amenities, modern dorm rooms, and great study spots. They are also right next to the Yahentamitsi Dining Hall, Eppley Recreation Center and La Plata Fields which are all good places to meet other freshmen mainly housed north campus as well. These dorms however are mainly given to honors students but nearby dorms with AC such as La Plata and Cumberland are also pretty decent and are in a good location for freshmen.
