Clark Street Reviews
New York University
Reviews Summary
Clark Street is a college dorm with a blend of history and modern amenities, situated in a significantly convenient location. Formerly St. George Hotel, once the largest hotel in NYC, it offers a unique living experience with lounge areas reminiscent of its grand past. It's equipped with a communal kitchen featuring a large cafeteria-style dining room, an ample hangout space with couches, a pool table, and a TV. An entire floor in the basement is dedicated to laundry facilities, adding to its practical charm. Rooms come in various sizes, with all featuring bathrooms—leftovers of the building’s hotel days, enhancing privacy and convenience. However, beware of the notorious elevators, often out of service and a source of frustration. Dorm options vary, with the high-cost triples offering generous bathrooms compared to the more cramped low-cost triples. The building also provides free gym membership to a neighboring gym, adding a perk to its offerings. While the neighborhood is deemed safe and Clark Street station is right beneath the building, some find it a walk from the main campuses, and local dining options sparse. Overall, Clark Street offers a vivid community experience, but its aged facilities and variability in room comfort might sway your decision.

NO. DON'T LIVE HERE. This building is not owned by NYU but EHS. They barely care about your life. Only two elevators are there and always broken somehow so you have to wait 5 mins. The most ridiculous thing is that they are repairing the exterior wall of the building, and you'll be awaken at 7:30 when workers use the fucking electronic drill to break the bricks. You feel the whole room is shaking and very annoyed, but EHS will tell you that they have no control over that. You have to endure the noise everyday before they finish their fucking work. Don't think it's a short-term experience. I've been living here with noise for over 2 semesters, even after changing to another room. The EHS team sucks.

If you are lucky enough to get a high cost triple, there is no dorm that will be able to compare to it. They have large bathrooms with both a shower and a separate bathtub. The bathroom has a large counter for your stuff and the toilet is separated by a wall.
If you get a double it is not that bad but can suck if you aren't close to your roommate. You will get a decent amount of space for yourself. The double rooms have decent bathrooms but nothing crazy.
If you get a low cost triple..... its really bad. Barely any personal space, your desk is under your bunk bed. The bathrooms might not have a counter, no bathtub, just a tile shower.

the lighting is absolutely bad and the beds are small. The neighborhoods is relatively safe but the facilities are kinda old. Especially the elevator always broke.

10 minutes walk from tandon. Safe neighborhood but no many good restaurants around. Some rooms are large and some are small. Old elevators. The kitchen can be crowded sometimes.

A bit of a walk to campus but a nice building and it comes with a free gym membership to the gym next door (has lots of equipment, pool, etc). It used to be an old hotel so rooms all have bathrooms and keys are key cards. the hang out area is really nice and the communal kitchen is big and has a large eating area. overall nice area!

I stayed at Clark Street over the summer and overall, I thought it was a great dorm. First off, it used to be the St. George Hotel which was once the largest hotel in nyc. With that said, the best part of staying here is all the lounge and common areas of the building. There is a communal kitchen with a large "cafeteria" style room, another large room with couches, a pool table and a TV, and an entire floor in the basement for laundry. The room itself was your classic dorm room. I stayed on the 9th floor in a double with a roommate with a nice view of Brooklyn. The bathroom was a part of the room and was nice as well. Loved the location as well- the Clark St station is exactly below the dorm building, and Brooklyn bridge is a 5 min walk awa...
