Danielsen Hall Reviews
Boston University
Reviews Summary
Danielsen Hall offers a mixed experience for residents, with spacious rooms that vary in natural light and views of the Charles River and MIT. The location, while far from campus, provides easy access to Newbury Street and Cambridge, making it ideal for those who enjoy the city life. The dorm is serviced by the BU bus, aiding in commuting around Boston. Residents appreciate the large common areas, shared kitchen facilities, and the opportunity to socialize. However, shared bathrooms receive criticism for being outdated and in need of renovation. Some residents faced challenges with room conditions, including issues with heating and maintenance. Despite its drawbacks, Danielsen Hall stands out for its charm, especially for those seeking a more urban living experience close to city attractions.

Got dumped here as a transfer. Room is solidly spacious, got lucky and got a top floor view of the Charles + MIT. Toilets are tiny and decently rancid, kinda like some NYC slum. Far from campus which kinda bums and loud during Friday/Saturday nights due to frat parties outside but close to town, which is pretty nice ngl. Building was old but serviceable. The laundry is full at night and on the weekends. Do them in the morning or on a weekday afternoon.
I hate to see the Danielsen Hall slander!! The location is not ideal because it is far away from campus, but the commute is easy if you learn how to navigate the BU bus. I am currently living in a double, and I find it very charming with its large windows. The security is less intense than in Warren Towers (where I lived last year). It is very quiet, so I would not recommend Danielsen if you're looking for a dorm building with a strong community.
Danielsen is in a great area of Boston: close to Newbury St and Cambridge, but can be far from campus. The bus stops right outside, which helps. Room sizes are decent and the natural light is nice if you get a room with a bay window. The shared bathrooms are AWFUL. They are extremely outdated and the toilets are consistently clogged. Would recommend choosing a room with its own bathroom/shared with one other room.
I lived in Danielsen for my Sophomore and Junior year. My sophomore year, I lived in a double on a low floor. The room I had was large, but there was practically zero natural light. The bathroom closest to my room was not too bad, but there definitely are some run down bathrooms elsewhere. My junior year, I chose to live in a single on the top floor. My room was almost just as big as my double, had an amazing view, and tons of natural light. It also came with a bathroom inside the room that I shared with another double, which was definitely also nicer than my bathroom sophomore year. Overall, I think Danielsen is a fine place to live. It is definitely a bit old, but as far as dorms go my experience was not nearly as bad as people someti...
Some doubles or triples are really nice but the one I lived is terrible. It only has one window at one side so it’s really dark inside, one desk is next to the window, and one desk is at the back of the room where there are no light at all so you need a lamp. The shared bathroom need some renovation. The package has to be pick up at Myles and it’s inconvenient. However, the shared kitchen and the lounge is great for hanging out with your friends. But I would rather choose another dorm next time.
Danielsen was really a mixed bag overall. I really enjoyed the large size of my double, and our private bathroom, but the building is terribly old. We have multiple issues with facilities which required them to perform renovations in our room. However, although it is far from campus, the location is amazing for those wanting to explore more of Boston!
I was in a double suite in Danielsen, the one where you had the bathroom in between two rooms. To be honest, I LOVE living in Danielsen. I was a junior transfer and have never been to Boston, so being able to live by Back Bay and by Newbury Street was so worth it. Imagine, people normally pay $4k and above to live in that area and you get to live there. I thought it was so worth it. Yes, of course, it's terribly far from school, but it kinda gives you that "I live in the city" feel and not "in school." Also, the BU bus stops right in front of Danielsen, so I actually never walked to campus, just on the way back home. There's also a water station, printing, laundry, and shared kitchen in Danielsen, so it really wasn't bad. Overall, I loved m...
Danielsen was a great place to live as a sophomore barring the distance from campus. The closest T stop is Hynes and when the bus isn’t running, getting to campus is a hassle.
The dorm is really far from class and wouldn't recommend if you have class in West. We all know the BU Shuttle isn't consistent and if you happen to miss the shuttle you're used to taking well enjoy a 15 minute walk. Its all about which room you get in this building. It's a mix of private doubles and singles, and public double and singles. Some rooms are bigger than others. Pay attention to the floor plan. It's right of Mass Ave and close to Newbury St and the Prudential center.
Pros: HUGE room, same price as other dorms, close to Newbury Street Cons: Honestly, just the location. It is the farthest dorm from central campus (although just a 15 minute walk).
