The Towers Reviews
Boston University
Reviews Summary
The Towers is a college dorm that offers a mix of positives and negatives according to student reviews. Situated in a prime location on Bay State Road, the dorm provides stunning views of the Charles River and is close to various campus amenities like dining halls and academic buildings. Many students appreciate the quiet and introvert-friendly environment that The Towers offers, making it conducive for studying and resting. The availability of study spaces, spacious rooms (despite some feeling cramped), and the option to loft beds for extra space are notable features. However, some students have raised concerns about the communal bathrooms, occasional maintenance issues, and limited social atmosphere on certain floors. Despite its drawbacks, The Towers seems to appeal to students who prioritize location, quieter living spaces, and proximity to academic buildings on the eastern side of the campus.

Towers really isn’t bad in my opinion. There are plenty of study spaces and the rooms are spacious. The downside is that you have to climb a ladder to get to your bed, but I like having my desk under my bed I think it’s cool.
I had a double to myself my freshman year so it was very spacious and the view was amazing. Right next to the best dining hall
Honestly, I’d rather live in Warren. The bathroom on my floor in particular is disgusting and the shower drains are permanently clogged, giving the showers a stale moldy smell. Its a bit small to share with another person (tho me and my roommate have quite a bit of stuff). If you deloft your bed, you don’t have room for anything. But the location is awesome. I love living on bay state, and it’s so close to Blandford
Honestly I don't understand why so many people look down on the Towers. A lot of people say it's "dead", but unless you want to live right in the middle of the party scene, I liked the fact that it's "dead" as in it's quiet and people are respectful aka not blasting music at 3AM on a Wednesday night (very introvert-friendly). The room itself may be a bit old but there's so much flexibility – you have the option to loft/de-loft your bed and all furniture in the room are movable. The location is amazing and you're literally right beside a T stop, BU shuttle stop, Sargent, SCI, Wheelock, Questrom, and Marciano, and around a block away from CAS, CDS, and the Kenmore area.
I lived here as a freshman (Spring 2021): Great location if you want a traditional style dorm on the eastern side of campus or especially if you have a lot of classes in Questrom/east. The building itself tended to be quieter in terms of a social scene, but some floors were quite social; it just depends. The building itself is comparable to Warren or even West so the differentiating factor would be the location and the social scene. The bathrooms are communal but they have a large number of stalls and sinks. There is also a lounge area on each floor and a large lounge on the first floor of the building and a big spooky basement. I ended up meeting my two best friends next door and I liked being in east campus so my experience overall was go...
I think students at BU complain about everything so if you’ve ever heard a lot of complaints about any dorm other than Warren, take it with a grain of salt. The location is perfect for walking to Newbury street, the prudential and Fenway. It’s about a 5 minute walk to CAS, and 10 minutes from the GSU. Laundry in the basement, pretty good natural light (west tower) and the staff are kind here. If you’re a freshman and you have the chance to live here and don’t mind being away from all the other freshmen, it’s a great choice.
I found the Towers to be bearable because my best friends ended up living next door, otherwise, it is pretty dead. I also lived on the second floor with no view and my floor was very quiet and boring. I have been on other floors which seem to be more lively so I think it just depends where you are. The bathrooms are not the best but it's all I know since I am a freshman. There is always construction and weird loud noises. Power goes out sometimes and they shut off the water at a weird time to do plumbing stuff. The room itself is a little larger than west dorms but I would say comparable to warren size. I hate the lofted beds just not for me. The location is very much on one side of campus which was difficult at times since I had classes in...
Highly recommend if you want a quiet place to live. Worst part was probably the lack of socialization with people on your floor, it’s a trade off. Super close to bay state dining hall which is the best imo. Rooms are decent sized, get a corner room if you can. While there’s an option to loft your bed, you can un-loft it and keep the spare parts under your bed (which I highly recommend. Most of the furniture is very new which is a plus.
Overall, The Towers was not my favorite place to live at. For starters, my room smelled moldy from the very beginning. There were fruit flies every now and then. There are lofted beds, which may be a pro for you, but it was not for me. If you keep the room the way it is, the ladders are in the middle of the room which makes it feel smaller. If your room faces the parking lot, big dining hall trucks come in at 5 am and they are LOUD with the windows open. The hallways were kind of depressing since it is a very quiet and dim dorm. The bathroom was kind of disgusting but there were about 5 toilets and 5 showers so you never had to wait in line for either. For some of the pros, despite having lofted beds, the rooms were actually pretty big for ...
As a freshman, Towers wasn’t the worst place to live. I had friends who also lived here, and it wasn’t at all isolated. The location is great- Bay State Rd is so pretty and is close to all of east campus & CAS, as well as the river. Though the bathrooms did get gross, they were better than the Warren bathrooms any time I visited Warren. There are more shower stalls (5, I believe?) and you never had to wait for a shower. The rooms themselves were small, and the heat was always blasting through the winter. My roommate and I had the windows open every day, even if it was below freezing out.
